CONTEXT
About the Project
I began volunteering for Refuge for Women in September of 2017. As a volunteer, I design various documents and promotional materials.
For this project, I redesigned their quarterly report so that the text was easy to read as well as easy to skim. My graph redesigns quickly communicate key information without making the reader work for the information.
GOALS FOR REDESIGN
Guiding Eye Movement
People prefer to read short lines of text because it keeps the eye moving and engaged. The content in the original document filled the entire page from left to right. I structured the copy so that each line was about 45 characters long.

Improving Graphs
For the graphs I redesigned, I used color and position to highlight important points of data. To make the document more unified, I continued using the purple color scheme in the graphs. The text in the original graphs was fairly small so I improved that in the redesign. My goal was to tell a story with the data and create graphs that didn’t make the reader work for the information.
